Sun Printing: Make Art with Sunlight!
Cyanotype, also known as sun printing, is a fun and easy alternative photography process that uses the power of sunlight to create beautiful blue-and-white images. This technique dates back to the 1800s and is perfect for capturing the delicate shapes of plants, found objects, or cut paper silhouettes.
During Sun Printing, taught by Heather Brand, you'll learn how to coat paper with cyanotype solution, arrange your composition, and expose it to sunlight to develop your image. You’ll leave with several finished prints and a new appreciation for this magical, hands-on process. Participants are encouraged to bring their own small objects, such as leaves, flowers, fabrics, lace, keys, or paper cutouts, to use in their prints. A variety of materials will also be provided, so there will be plenty to choose from!
This three-hour workshop is designed for beginners, no experience necessary!
The cost is $35 per participant and includes all materials.
This workshop is suited for ages 12 and up. Participation will be limited to 12 attendees.
